I only have one question to ask.
Instead of this being about me, I want to know about others a little more.
I am currently becoming what people call an insomniac, so don't mind if this all sounds odd. It is 1:55 am in the morning and all. Instead of this being about me, I want to know about others a little more.
So please if you will, take a dive into an existential conversation! I want to know from all the artist out there big and small--I don't want a poll here, but I will ask one simple question.
Should artists create art,
For themselves,
Or for others?
And which one do you mostly find yourself doing?
Lately I have hit a road block because I keep thinking so much, about what others like or want in my artwork--what they would think of it, what the public eye or a person would like me to draw next. It is as if I ponder as to what line I should create next based on others.
This surely isn't a bad way to think, for artist's must think in the terms of the public eye, no? Or else they would never make any sales.
I have acknowledged that I will probably become a starving artist.
But is it better to create art for our own sake, or for the people we will probably be selling our art to if not now, in the future?
I feel it SHOULD be both, but it still bothers me.
Not for my sake, but more out of curiosity than anything else, I want to know what YOU think.
So roll the dice. Take a dive. Take a minute of your life to answer a question you may have not already thought about, or the one that has been bothering you. Thank you all for reading (if anyone, perhaps, reads this).
Sorry, this is a weird entry, I'll write something about what I did this week in my next journal-- Just having one of those moments. <3
